SOF-IA is a comprehensive digital solution designed to transform quality control in the food sector. By combining smart sensors, artificial intelligence algorithms, and a digital platform, it enables rapid, non-destructive, real-time analysis of by-products. This tool facilitates data-driven decision-making, improving efficiency, traceability, and sustainability in production processes, while providing key added value for the industry’s competitiveness.
The system integrates portable NIR sensors, machine learning algorithms, and a centralized digital platform. The software developed by ISOTADER serves as the engine that powers this solution, managing data capture, processing, and visualization in a secure and efficient way.
Its flexible design allows adaptation to different production processes within the fishing industry, paving the way for its adoption in other areas of the food industry — thus driving competitiveness and sustainability.
Although SOF-IA is designed as a versatile and adaptable solution for various subsectors of the food industry, its initial development and validation have focused on the fishing sector. The growing need to monitor the quality of by-products rich in high-value compounds, such as fish oils, has driven the creation of this tool—capable of providing immediate, non-destructive results for key parameters such as lipid profile, acidity, peroxide index, and moisture content.
SOF-IA represents a firm step toward the digitalization of quality control in the food industry, with a particular focus on the fishing sector. Supported by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the project combines artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and public-private collaboration to boost competitiveness, sustainability, and efficiency in the industry.
